We were previously
known as OLPS Orchestra under Fr. Francis Leong
in April 2005. The orchestra received many interested youths and
adults, from strings, to brass and percussion and aged from 7
right up to 70plus! After 6 months however, with changes in plans,
Fr. Leong could not continue the work of the orchestra.
We then formed a string quartet through 2006. Eventually,
the group evolved into a small ensemble of string, flute and guitar
players. By late 2006 therefore, we decided to rename ourselves
to represent our now small size - to the "OLPS Ensemble".
It was also at that time that we got acquainted with Felix Tie,
a conductor at the Ave Maria Choir, who helped us integrate into
the Mass and church events such as Taize.
It was a godsend. Since then, we have been learning and playing
Taize pieces and grew to love it.
Through the
last 2 years, the members stuck together playing and learning
various mass and Taize songs. By God's grace, we have pulled through,
playing for Taize events, OLPS Prayer Meeting and also events
like Easter and Christmas!
For 2009, we look towards more opportunities to serve and play
great music in the church of OLPS, also with our friends at the
Holy Family Church GII Choir!
Join us! we are always in favour of new musicians.
